Richard works on various issues related to the sustainability of, and climate risks to, food, agriculture, land-use, and soft commodity resource trade at Chatham House. He leads the Energy, Environment and Resources Department’s programme of work on COVID-19’s impacts on food security and the emergent sustainability issues arising from growing global competition for land-based ecosystem services and resources. He was a lead author on UN Environment’s flagship environmental assessment, Global Environment Outlook (GEO-6, 2019). Prior to working at Chatham House Richard was Deputy Head of Research at Oxfam GB.
