The Career Conversations series, part of the Food Matters Live podcast is heading on the road with an exciting new format. It will be live recorded as an addition to our Inspiring Careers in Food event programming taking place in London and Birmingham in November 2022. Host Elisa Roche and a compelling lineup of guests will be joining students and industry for a live audience recording.

Audience members will have the chance to ask questions to the guests, offering a unique opportunity to engage with the podcast on a deeper level, and for guests to speak directly to students hoping to embark on a career in the food industry.

Guests joining Elisa in front of a live audience include David Lloyd, Senior R&D Manager at Huel, Shiada Drysdale, Food and Beverage Manager at Virgin Atlantic, Jamie Keeble, Co-founder of Heck and Sophie Medlin, Consultant Dietitian, Director of City Dieticians and Chair (London) of the British Dietetic Association (BDA).

The Career Conversations series was created to show young people the opportunities available in the industry, and how no two career journeys are the same. Originally launched to help tackle recruitment shortages and to attract new talent, each 20 minute episode explores the high and lows of a guest’s careers.

The series has gone from strength to strength since its debut in January 2022 with a diverse and inspirational catalogue of guests. Notable names include nutritionist Rhiannon Lambert, Bake Off alumni Benjamina Ebuehi, Virgin Atlantic’s Global Food & Beverage lead Hari Ghotra and chef Dominique Woolf.

The podcast series also received a prestigious FDF 2022 Awards nomination within the first six months of its launch for its efforts in Education and encouraging young people into the Food & Drinks industry. The awards will take place on 29 November 2022.

Podcast host, Elisa Roche comments on the exciting new addition to the Career Conversations format: “I can’t WAIT to meet students in person and really listen to their experiences of university and college life as they enter the jobs market. We are here to support them all the way and to show them how exciting and inclusive this industry is.

I also want to hear their honest feedback about the podcast so that we can make sure listeners come first and we are giving them everything they need. Plus, I get to feel like a rock star, going ‘on tour!'”

Head of Audio Anthony Zahra highlights the opportunities that the new episodes will offer. “These events are a fantastic chance for students, universities, and employers to get together and talk about the huge number of job opportunities in the food and drink industries.

Taking the podcast around the country gives us and our partners the opportunity to come face-to-face with the best and brightest talent of the future, who will one day be leading the sector.

It’s a great milestone for the Career Conversations series and the Food Matters Live Podcast as a whole, which continues to grow month on month.”
