Welcome and thank you for joining me this weekend.

Many agree that we need to make some changes to our current food system for the health of the planet and its inhabitants, but what are the best solutions? Should we cut down – or stop altogether – eating animal products, produce food in novel ways, or create feed additives and contraptions so livestock produce less GHG?

This week’s articles tap into different propositions. Which of these roads ahead will humans take? Can we wander down more than one path?

I caught up with The Good Food Institute founder and President Bruce Friedrich to discuss the importance of governments’ alternative protein subsidies, the future of plant-based and cultivated meats and why Europe needs to send a clear message when it comes to novel foods. Don’t miss our conversation in Bruce Friedrich interview: “Building a better and more sustainable food system is one of the most important challenges of our age.”

The UK is currently investing in a few research projects into alternative proteins and hot off the press it’s just been announced that UKRI research councils will fund the development of £15M sustainable protein research hub.

Those who believe giving up or cutting down on animal products is off the cards will be interested in the latest tech to lower GHG in farming in 7 innovative technologies developed to cut greenhouse gas emissions in animal agriculture.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend,

Stef
