Geometric shapes show balance

Welcome and thank you for joining me this weekend.

With so much concerning news about food, we’d be forgiven for not spotting all the positive initiatives happening in the realm. In truth I am very excited about some of the advancements, trends and programmes happening in the food sector. Sure, we are lightyears away from cutting GHG gases and reaching net zero, but progress, both in the sustainability and nutrition spaces is being made. First of all we are openly discussing what’s working and what isn’t – and we all know that action starts with a conversation – but also, there are plenty of stakeholders and members of the general public working hard to improve our food system, and they, in my opinion, need to be celebrated. Life is a balancing act, we have to take the good with the bad, and I believe that, if we pay attention, we’ll notice how much is actually changing and how many people want to make a positive impact that benefits our society and planet.

This week we report on 10 innovative European food waste solutions and we also find out what the 10 key trends in nutrition and health for this year are, and let me tell you, there’s some truly exciting stuff being researched and developed at the moment.

If you’ve ever wondered how the plant-based movement started, don’t miss The history of vegetarianism – from persecution to popularity.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend, I hope you are excited about the future of food as I am.
